Our Pastor

My name is Jeremy Franklin & I am the pastor of Oasis Church of Arlington, TX- a restart of the former Grace Temple Baptist Church.  I am originally from Oxford, MS (home of the University of Mississippi and the Ole Miss Rebels: HOTTY TODDY!) but have lived over half my life in Arkansas (so I’m a Hog fan too).  We moved to Arlington in 2008.

I graduated high school (Hamburg, AR) in 1994 and received my B.A. from Central Baptist College, Conway, AR in 2000.  I have been in the ministry since I was 19.  I surrendered to preach in 1998, & was ordained (by Edgewood Baptist, Pine Bluff, AR) in 2004.  I have served churches as youth pastor (Grace, Russellville, AR), associate pastor (Central, Prescott), and pastor (Edgewood/Calvary, White Hall & Grace Temple).  Grace Temple is the second church that I’ve had the privilege of leading through reorganization and relocation.

the Franklins- Jeremy, Becky, Will, Maggie, & Libby

I married Becky (Partrick) on June 13, 1998; one day before our shared birthday (she is 2 years younger, & yes, remembering my anniversary is easy!).  Becky is both beautiful and sweet; and she has stood beside me through some tough decisions.  We have three great kids- Will (12), Maggie (6), & Libby (4).  They are beautiful (they take after their mom) but not quite sweet as she (they are plain rotten sometimes!).

In addition to being a husband, father, and pastor/church replanter; I am also a student at Criswell College in Dallas.  I am pursuing a Master of Divinity degree and I dream of being a college or seminary professor one day (after I retire from church ministry).  I expect by the time I get a Ph.D. I will have gained the experience I need to help “pass the torch” of church ministry to another generation.

Most importantly, I received Christ at age 13.  My salvation experience made such an impact on me that I remember the day- September 10, 1989.  I know that God has been very gracious to save me and to give me an awesome family and a church to let me serve Him in ministry.  God is good and I am not, so I thank Him everyday for His grace.
